What is a Career Conversion Programme?

Career Conversion Programmes (CCPs) are conversion programmes targeted at mid-career individuals here in Singapore, to undergo skills conversion and switch to new jobs or sectors that have good prospects and opportunities for progression.

What are the Career Conversion Programmes?

Workforce Advancement Federation (WAF) offers 3 Career Conversion Programmes (CCPs) to support organizations in reskilling or redeploying mid-career talents to take on new job roles. 

  1. SME Executives (SME)
  2. Wholesale Trade Professionals (WTP)
  3. Biomedical Manufacturing Industry (BMI)

Programme Overview

PMET(s) must enroll in the programme within the first 3-months of their employment start date.

Programme Duration: 3 Months

1. Zero Cost 3-Day Workshop

  • Day 1: Techniques to acclimatize to an SME environment
  • Day 2: Foundational Skills in key business functions
  • Day 3: Joint session between new hire and supervisor to align Job Description / Job Tasks / Expected deliverables

2. On-The-Job (OJT) Training

  • Companies are to draft a 3-month OJT plan and submit it to the Workforce Advancement Federation.
  • Ensure OJT is carried out during the 3 months.
  • Submit the final OJT plan and performance evaluation at the end of the programme.

Eligibility Criteria

For SMEs

  • Companies registered or incorporated in Singapore;
  • Employment size of not more than 200; OR with annual sales turnover of not more than S$100 million;
  • Must be able to offer full time employment with a fixed monthly salary of at least $2,700 and at least a 12-month employment contract;
  • Must put in place structured OJT for the candidate;
  • Commit to CCP training arrangements for the trainees; and
  • Be committed to work with WSG or its appointed programme partners on the necessary admin matters related to the programme.
  • “Companies” is used as a generic term and is intended to include non-business entities not registered with ACRA such as VWOs and societies, among others. 
  • A company should include in its employment size any persons employed under a contract of service in accordance to the Employment Act. This is regardless of the nationality of the employee.
  • Annual sales turnover refers to the revenue or sales turnover stated on the company’s income statements.

 For PMETs

  • Be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident who is keen to pursue a full-time career in an SME; 
  • Have graduated or completed National Service at least 2 years prior at the point of application; 
  • New job role trained for under the CCP should be substantially different from previous job role; or 
  • Has held a similar role previously but was from a non-SME prior to joining the company 
  • Must not be connected to the CCP participating company 
  • Shareholder of CCP company or its related companies; 
  • Related to the owners of the CCP company; and 
  • Immediate ex-staff of the CCP company or related entities.
  • Graduation: This will be counted from the date of graduation from the latest qualification, or date of completion of national service, whichever is later. 
  • Shareholder of related companies: This does not apply to shareholders who hold publicly traded shares in listed companies.
  • Owners of the CCP Company: For non-publicly listed companies, refer to individuals with shareholding per ACRA profile. 
  • Annual sales turnover refers to the revenue or sales turnover stated on the company’s income statements.

Funding Support

Standard Rates

  • Up to 70% of monthly salary* for CCP training duration.
  • Capped at $5,000 per month.

Enhanced rates

  • Up to 90% of monthly salary* for CCP training duration.
  • Capped at $7,500 per month.

*Enhanced rate is applicable for unemployed Singaporean/PR individuals actively seeking employment for six months or more; and/or those aged 40 and above in the year of CCP commencement.
